A book in a day, run by husband and wife Alan O'Cain and Juliet Lunn

Making a professional-looking book requires careful practical skills and exact attention to detail, but with our guidance anyone can do it. We have small groups and two tutors on hand to help you achieve success.

Few things match the wonderful sense of achievement gained from holding a book you have made with your own hands.

The range of skills used to produce a book is surprising. Our exciting courses brings a shimmer of satisfaction to your fingertips!

I am still enjoying the thought of our great day making a book with you. I love my little book and know exactly what I am going to put inside it.
Caroline Benge - Book-Maker

After our courses you will never look at a book the same again. We show you how books are constructed and introduce you to the fascinating world of paper, cloth and board - the simple ingredients that become such treasured objects.

Our courses are intensive but fun. We have designed a roller coaster ride to allow you to achieve in one day what you might expect to take a week. We remove routine aspects from the process and provide a suite of equipment for each person to use for themselves. And no note-taking is necessary.

So, buckle up, knuckle down and prepare to amaze yourself!

Making a book in a day can be just the start. There are endless possibilities for creating book-based objects. Our course paves the way for a fascinating hobby.

And we're on hand to provide support, materials and equipment.

Our courses all include creativity. "Into Print" involves drawing, collage and creative writing. Our three-signature blank notebook course includes painting a beautiful cover. Other creative writing and art courses are also available from Alan.

We are confident you will have a wonderful and inspiring time. All the materials needed to make your book are included in the price. You'll have up to six hours of direct tuition in very small groups with two tutors, and the chance to buy discounted equipment. All for little more than the cost of a restaurant lunch!

Being on one of our courses is a great social activity. Enjoy the thrills, the spills, the trials and the tribulations, then relax between times with friends old and new. And end the day swapping tales of book-making adventures!

You may want to produce your own series of books with printed content. We can give advice on using your own PC to publish text and create digital images.

We also offer web design services and comissioned art, words and design.
